At the end of November, Birka Line again arranged for the fourth time a "Malt Whisky Cruising" for Swedish Malt lovers. This event has become a tradition and happens once every quarter on board M/S Birka Paradise on the Stockholm - Mariehamn route in the Baltic Sea.
During the mini-exhibition, passengers have the opportunity to taste up to 100 different malts and also buy their favourites. Among the famous malts Loch Ness was also presented as it is starting to become more and more popular. It has been on sale on Birka Lines now for 3 years.
This time Birka Line had invited a famous Swedish Whisky Ambassador Mr. Anders Gjoerling to answer questions about Malt whiskies. Anders was recently elected as a "Keeper of the Quaich".The exhibition was visited by 350 - 400 passengers and 15 exhibitors were present to make this occasion successful together with Birka Line.

Loch Ness whisky - promotional activity in Scandinavia
Birka Line is regularly making 20-hour cruises business between Stockholm, Sweden and Mariehamn in Aland archipelago in Finland. The passenger structure is 95 % Swedish people most of whom love Single Malt Whisky.
This new concept of "Whisky Cruising" has been created by Birka Line in order to offer the passengers more entertainment on board. The whisky cruising will be arranged four times a year.
The first occasion was held in February 2008 and with more than 1,000 passengers. Approx. 200 people visited the mini exhibition to taste Loch Ness Single Highland Malt whisky as well as various other Malt Whiskies.

For the first time in history, the Loch Ness Single Highland Malt Whisky has been listed in the Nordic Duty Free area. The negotiations started last year at the Tax Free World Exhibition in Cannes. The first customers are Birka Line (cruise ships between Stockholm in Sweden and Mariehamn in Finland) and Eckero Line (cruise ships between Mariehamn in Finland and Grisslehamn in Sweden, north of Stockholm) . Following a very successful trial in 2007, these two customers have now confirmed that the Loch Ness Single Malt Whisky will be listed in their assortments for 2008. The Loch Ness Whisky Nordic Duty Free agent, Carl-Erik Hanst�n of Benefix Oy Ab Ltd, says "We hope that these 2 successful listings will lead to other new listings in 2008."
